I really like this place. They are generous with the sandwiches, the workers are friendly and the ingredients are fresh. While I truly appreciate that they wear gloves while preparing the sandwiches, it would be better if they also wore hair and facial hair nets. I would feel a lot more comfortable and would probably eat there more often if that was the case.

I recently visited this Austin-based sub chain to satisfy my sub cravings and ordered the Veggie Delite Sub. It included cream cheese, avocado, sprouts, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, mushrooms, and black olives on wheat bread. Despite claims of freshly baked bread, it came from a large transparent plastic bag, which made it seem less fresh. The sandwich was served cold and not toasted, with only salt and pepper as the dressing, which made it taste somewhat bland, similar to Jimmy John’s.

I appreciated the cream cheese, but the overall flavor profile was lacking without additional dressing options. The provolone cheese added some richness, but it didn’t quite elevate the sub to the level I expected. Having been accustomed to the variety of dressings and bold flavors available at Subway, this sub felt underwhelming in comparison. It seems this place caters more to American tastes, favoring simpler, milder flavors.

While the quality of ingredients was decent, the sub didn’t stand out enough to make me want to return. I was hoping for a more flavorful and satisfying experience. Overall, I’d rate it 3.5 stars for the good ingredients but lack of flavor variety and fresh presentation. It was an okay experience, but not one I’m eager to repeat.

This place has never been slow paced, I have never had a disappointing sandwich from there. The people are awesome. Definitely my favorite thundercloud shop ?

I ordered a BLT. They asked what I wanted on it I said mayo and provolone. I got a sandwich with bacon, mayo, and provolone. Then when I asked for lettuce and tomato because they messed up they said “BLTs don’t come with lettuce and tomato unless you ask” THEN WHY CALL IT A BLT?!?! If you aren’t going to give me the lettuce and tomato then call it a bacon sandwich. The attitude of these employees is ridiculous. Won’t come back to this location. Round Rock location is much nicer.

Solid Italian sub/hoagie.... I went double meat for the extra $2 something. Sub was loaded at that point. Bun was fresh and hit the spot. Oil and vinegar was unique in flavor and quite good. Quick service... No complaints.

The dude making the sandwich was very laid back and helpful. It's not a subway which to me is awesome. Feels like a an old school sub shop not an assembly line..

Dude! (You have to say dude at Thundercloud) This place rocks your socks. Totally.
It's like Jimmy John's but doesn't smell as good. And it's like Potbelly but they don't, like, toooaast the bread. And it's like that other place that makes subway sandwiches ... um.. Subway! But they like play classic rock and stuff. And they have albums on the walls. And it's not just the bread that gets baked, if you know what I mean. ? It's cool. Totally.

It's definitely got the Austin vibe. If you like subs, you'll be a happy person. When they ask if you want thunder sauce, the answer is always yes, no, ifs, ands, or buts just yes please. Tip if you are a ranch fan, they have it. You just have to ask for it.

My favorite sandwich place in Austin. Feels local. Ingredients are always fresh. Bread is not sweet like Subway's. Nice people. Lots of sandwhich options and extras. My go-to sandwich shop.
