My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous breakfast at Gourmet Deli House this past week. We used to take my Dad here all the time when he was still with us as well as 2 of our Granddaughters when they were young. They will soon be off to college! (see pics below - the first one is our breakfast from last week & the others are happy memories from years gone by ❤️).
As we were in the area we thought it would be nice to stop in again. Everything was as wonderful and as delicious as we remembered! Large portions, good food and service. The new decor was charming. Geralyn was a teriffic waitress - as usual - making sure all of our food was to our liking (and it was!) Order the 2-2-2. You won't be disappointed! Over the many years we always found all the food selections to be really really good. Enjoy! ?

OMG, that’s all I can say!! Such a find, diamond in the rough!! Atmosphere beautiful & peaceful. Service super efficient, quick & pleasant. Desert cases looked super scrumptious. Talk about a super clean restaurant, incredible!! Chicken noodle soup delish. Hubby ordered the Pastrami sandwich & I ordered the “Rachel” super huge sandwiches, tender meat and overall absolutely delicious! Definitely will be back again. So happy to have this fabulous NY Style Deli in our backyard!!
WAIT-needed to update, took off 1 STAR:
As we left, we stopped for a treat at the dessert counter. Finally decided on a slice of Cheesecake & 2 sprinkled cookies. Totally disappointed when we arrived home and opened the “to go” container and laid eyes on the sad state of the slice that we were presented with. $8.50 for a slice and see pic of what we got. Was not impressed with it as it did taste a tiny bit stale (freezer burned) & was just ok, nothing to get excited about. Guess the size & condition played a part of my distaste as well. The cookies were very dry and not buttery at all, at least NOT up to NY bakery standards. Will go back next time for great restaurant food and skip the dessert.

EDIT: Just wrote a great review on the restaurant portion of our visit. Took away 1 STAR: The dessert take out was a different story. Here is a photo of the way our $8.50 piece of Cheesecake was packed. $8.50 for a slice and this is the way it looked when we opened the “to go” container. Sad that the presentation & even the size was not better prepared. Also we noted that not everything in the dessert case was labeled and it seemed to be a bother that they had to come around and tell us what was what. Simple labels on their food products would have been more helpful.

It was a lovely Saturday morning with a in house singer. I found it so relaxing and festive. Staff was friendly and helpful. There was a car show in the parking lot that just added to the experience.

Perfect deli atmosphere, friendly wonderful service, delicious homemade chicken noodle matzo ball soup !!! And menu has EVERYTHING!!! Couldn’t walk by deli/bakery case. Picked up a piece of Carnegie cheesecake and orange cake, both cinnamon and chocolate rugelach to go!

A wonderful place to have a comfortable meal. I always take friends here when they visit town and they are always impressed by the food and atmosphere. I recommend the Dagwood Special. The omelets are excellent as well.

Upon entering Gourmet Deli House, just as you should be in any authentic deli, you are greeted with cases filled with cakes, salads, pickles and meats. Upon being seated by the hostess, we were immediately greeted by our server, Geralyn, taking our beverage order and explaining the house specialties and specials. Soon thereafter we were served a plate of half done pickles. Although we usually order stuffed cabbage (you definitely need to try this dish), this time we decided to try Geralyn’s recommended specialty and house favorite, lobster salad on a croissant with Munster cheese, fries and side of coleslaw. Wow, am I glad I did. Unbelievable. An ample portion of lobster salad served on an open faced flakey croissant with melted Munster cheese. I can see why it’s a house favorite. It was excellent. I couldn’t thank Geralyn enough for suggesting it. I will definitely be ordering it again in the future and highly recommend it. Geralyn was personable and made dining a pleasure. I highly recommend the Gourmet Deli House. Whether you order the lobster melt or another entree, you won’t be disappointed.
