I ordered a number of products and when the package arrived there were two items missing. I contacted this business via email and received no reply. I contacted them again via email a few days later a little more persistently and the next day I received a call at 8am from a rep who suggested the missing items were on back order and that she didn’t know how to respond to emails without the help of her staff member who was sick. She promised I’d get the items within a few days. A week later nothing. I contacted her again via email asking for a refund. This is three weeks ago and again nothing. Aside from this dubious practice, many of the items they sell are available on store shelves at lower prices. I don’t know how this business has survived despite all this. Incredible.

The products that I did receive were great, but the customer service is seriously lacking. I had 5 items in my cart that wouldn't show up when I went to pay. They were in stock, so I couldn't figure out why I couldn't order them. I inquired twice with them and was told they were short-staffed, and they would look into it and get back to me. The last conversation was early October, and it's now almost mid-November, and I still have not heard back. 🙁

I have been shopping at the gourmet trading company for number of years. They offer wonderful products that are well priced. The last couple of years however, I have noticed the customer service has been declining. Being a repeat customer I have been very fortunate that they have offered me an additional 10% off code during their sales which I have appreciated. Unfortunately, the code does not always work. I do understand it is a one time code, but when I have called in, the customer service person does not seem overly helpful. In fact this year, when I phoned in rather than correct the error they cancelled part of my order. I was one of the first to place my orders for the Black Friday sale, and everything was added to my cart, stating that it was in stock. After I phoned regarding the discount code not always working, the one product that I was really hoping to give us Christmas gifts was then refunded and canceled. The explanation was that they had run out of stock. I’m actually wondering if this was more of an error on the part of the person I spoke with regarding the discount code as the website had stated they were in stock when I placed the order. Two days after the order was placed however, the item was indeed out of stock, but I have to wonder if that was true when my order was accepted. When I spoke to the lady on the phone she was very distracted and did not seem interested in listening to what I had to say. She was speaking to someone else at the same time then put me on hold and when I asked about the discount code, she said that’s a lot of work to correct. Overall I have been quite happy with the gourmet trading company and all their products. I’m just somewhat dissatisfied with the the woman that answers their phone. I have spoken to her more than once, and she always seems to have the same sort of attitude. Last year I let her attitude go but this year when I got the same response I felt I needed to post a review.

Update:
Today I received a box of treats from the gourmet trading company as an apology for the mixup in December. It was a very nice gesture to make the poor experience into a positive one. Thank you for this. Not all companies would go out of their way like that.
